Shabbat in Yerushalayim

We did Kabbalat Shabbat at a scenic overlook on Friday evening, and then went down from there to the Kotel.   In the morning, we had an option of synagogues to choose from; some went to a Conservative synagogue similar to those in the States, and others chose the Great Synagogue, which has an Orthodox service.   I went to the Great Synagogue, which has a famous choir that led most of the prayers.

Then after lunch we met two Lone Soldiers.  One of them was our own KBA alumna - Ariana Berlin. They shared their experiences of being in the army and why they chose to come to live in Israel.
After we rested, we went to the park and played football at Gan Haatzmaut, Independence Park, in Jerusalem.  After our first game a group of guys from Panama wanted to play football with us. It was a bunch of 25 year olds vs. KBA and Ezra. They were very physical but somehow we still ended up winning.

After dinner and Havdalah we went to Ben Yehuda street. It had a ton of restaurants and small shops, and lots of people bought various items such as kippot, and ice cream.  We also saw a bunch of street performers.
In the end, today was a very good day.   –William
